Overview

SimpleWeather is a minimalist weather app that provides accurate forecasts and beautiful data visualization. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about how your data is handled. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Location Data

To show you relevant weather, SimpleWeather needs to know your location. How we handle this:

• Optional permission: SimpleWeather asks for location access only when you want local weather. You can decline and search for a city manually instead.
• Your choice: You can use "precise" or "approximate" location. Approximate location gives you weather for your general area without sharing exact coordinates.
• Not stored: Your location is used only to fetch the current weather and is not saved to a profile or sold to anyone.
• Revocable: You can turn off location access at any time in iOS Settings → SimpleWeather → Location.

Weather Data Source

SimpleWeather fetches forecasts from the Open-Meteo API, an open, free weather data service:

• What is sent: Only your location coordinates (latitude and longitude) are sent to Open-Meteo to retrieve the forecast for that point.
• What Open-Meteo receives: Coordinates only — no name, no device ID, no personal profile.
• No tracking: Open-Meteo does not track you across the app or build an advertising profile.

Account & Identity

SimpleWeather does not require you to create an account. There are no email addresses, phone numbers, or passwords:

• No personal credentials: We never ask for your name, email, phone number, or social media accounts.
• No login: The app works fully offline-friendly; you just open it and see the weather.
• Local settings: Your preferred city, units (°C / °F), and theme are stored only on your device.

Data We Do NOT Collect

• No contacts: We never access your address book or contact list.
• No photos: SimpleWeather does not access your photo library.
• No browsing history: We do not track your web activity.
• No third-party tracking SDKs: No Facebook SDK, no Google Analytics, no ad networks.
• No background location: SimpleWeather does not track where you go in the background.

Free App — No Payments

SimpleWeather is completely free. There is no subscription, no in-app purchase, and no payment processed. Because we never bill you, we never handle or store any credit card or payment information.

Data Security

• All weather API communication is encrypted via HTTPS/TLS.
• Weather requests contain only coordinates, with no identifying information attached.
• Your preferences are stored locally on your device using iOS's standard secure storage.

Children's Privacy

SimpleWeather is safe for all ages and is not directed at children under 13 in any special way. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. Because we collect no personal information at all, the app is suitable for everyone.

Your Rights

• Location control: You decide whether to share location, and can switch to manual city search at any time.
• Nothing to delete: Because we do not store your personal data on our servers, there is no account data to erase — just delete the app if you no longer want it.
• Transparency: This policy fully describes the limited data we process.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of SimpleWeather after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
